How does regenerative therapy work?

Regenerative therapy involves using naturally occurring substances to trigger new cell and tissue growth in your body. Depending on your needs and which area you’re having treated, you may benefit from one type of regenerative therapy over the other. They’re described in detail below.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

Platelet-rich plasma involves extracting a small amount of your own blood and processing it in a centrifuge. After the centrifuge rapidly spins your blood, the separated plasma that’s left behind is full of powerful healing growth factor cells.

Platelets generally jump into action anytime you have a wound or injury. So naturally, when they’re concentrated and injected directly into the desired treatment area, they trigger a cascade of healing events that encourage new tissue growth.

Amnion tissue

The amniotic membrane (or amnion) is the innermost layer of the placenta that lines the amniotic cavity. The membrane itself consists of a special combination of tissue layers, making amnion a unique membrane in the human body. This tissue contains many growth factors that may be utilized by your body for tissue regeneration and inflammation reduction.

Stem cell therapy

There are various forms of what we refer to “stem cell therapy”. Most commonly these therapies are referred to as stem cells therapy:

  • Bone Marrow Mesenchymal stem cells
  • Umbilical Cord blood or Wharton's jelly

Stem cell therapy involves using umbilical cord blood, which is an incredibly rich source of stem cells and injecting it into the treatment area. Because these specialized cells are donated from a mother and infant – at no risk to either – they’re young, healthy, and often more powerful than aged stem cells.

These donor stem cells are so powerful and unique, they self-renew and generate new cells to replace diseased cells in your body. Using your own stem cells after going through a bone marrow aspirate procedure, which involves gently extracting some of your bone marrow in a short in-office procedure, you can get similar benefits.

What can regenerative therapy treat?

Regenerative therapy with PRP or stem cell therapy can treat an array of aesthetic and health issues. Your dedicated regenerative specialist at Regenerative Aesthetics & Lasers NW can use this cutting-edge technology to treat:

  • Sexual dysfunction in men and women
  • Joint, tendon, or ligament injuries in extremities
  • Thinning hair or hair loss (hair restoration)
  • Wrinkles, skin volume loss, and other signs of aging
  • Facial scars, including acne scars

These regenerative solutions are often paired with additional therapies for optimal results, too. For instance, if you really want to reverse the signs of aging and take years off your face in a single treatment, having microneedling with PRP is the gold-standard service. Your skin instantly starts regenerating fresh new collagen and elastin, so you’re left with beautiful, younger-looking skin.

How many regenerative therapy treatments do I need?

You may only need a single treatment to achieve the results you’re looking for. In many cases, though, regenerative treatment clients are so pleased with their results, they continue coming back to Regenerative Aesthetics & Lasers NW every few months for touch-up treatments. Your regenerative therapy specialist can let you know if you’re going to need additional treatments – a package of 2-3 visits is most common for aesthetic services, while 1-2 visits is all that is needed for sports medicine conditions.

To see if regenerative therapy is right for you, book a consultation at Regenerative Aesthetics & Lasers NW. Schedule either online or over the phone.
